Safety issues

Hafnarfjörður Port gives top priority to safety matters, fulfilling Icelandic harbour regulation that relates to safety. All of the utility connection boxes (which also serve as light pole bases and are spaced at intervals no greater than 90 m) provide a wide assortment of rescue equipment, including life hooks, ring buoys, rescue nets, safety harnesses, etc. The dock ladders on most piers are lit up, and the rescue ladders on floating docks reach well down into the water.

Through such measures, mariners as well as Hafnarfjörður Port personnel should be reasonably secure while at work.
